New Swimmers
Candidates new to this program must email the head coach prior to registration.
- This is not a learn-to-swim program. Candidates should take swimming lessons before joining a competitive swim team. Competitive swimming consists of 4 strokes, 4 turns, and diving from starting blocks. Your swimmer would benefit from having already been introduced to a couple strokes prior to joining swim team. That said, this year BST is focused on redevelopment and welcoming in new swimmers, so there will be opportunities to develop strokes and learn these new skills and concepts. Lessons are available at the Brattleboro Memorial Park, The Edgar May Center, and the Keene Family YMCA.
- As in years past, there are two different Registration types, one for Brattleboro Residents and one for Non-Residents.
- If your family is new to competitive swimming don’t miss the season kickoff dinner which takes place after the first practice. This is an important informational meeting.
- Practices happen Monday—Friday, 4-5 PM.
- Team suit designs change every two years. Visit our team store at the SwimOutlet to view the latest suits.
- The Southern Vermont Swim League District Championships are mandatory. They are held in Rutland, Vermont and are typically scheduled for one of the middle weekends in July.
- The Vermont State Championships are always scheduled for the first weekend in August. They are usually hosted by the Upper Valley Aquatics Center in White River Junction, Vermont.
- The registration fee is currently $225 for Brattleboro Residents and $240 for Non-Residents.
